Array 500SC Herbicide ARRAY-500SC Indigo Specialty Products

Description

Array 500SC Herbicide

Active Ingredient: Ethofumesate @ 500g/L

Similar or comparable to Sci-Fi 500SC Herbicide (Apparent), Tramat 500SC Herbicide (Bayer) & Ethos Herbicide (Australian Agribusiness)

ProForce Array 500 SC Herbicide is a preemergent and postemergent herbicide containing 500g/L of the active ingredient Ethofumesate. It is registered for the pre-emergent control of Wintergrass in a variety of turfgrasses including Bentgrass, Kentucky Bluegrass, Kikuyu, Queensland Blue Couch and Ryegrass. ProForce Array 500 SC is also registered to control a range of grass and broadleaf weed species in non-crop situations, including fencelines and tree plantations.

What are the key features of Array 500SC Herbicide?

  • Pre-emergent and Post-emergent activity, which provides application versatility. Array can be used prior to, at or after weed germination.
  • Excellent safety on cool-season turfgrasses, including Kikuyu and QLD Blue Couch. It is also very safe to key turfgrass species that Array is labelled to be used on.
  • Unique mode of action Group. Excellent rotational tool from a resistance management perspective.
  • Flexibility around re-seeding of cool-season grasses. Excellent safety around overseeding cool-season grasses, particularly Ryegrass.
  • Also registered for use in non-crop situations. Can be a useful rotational option for fenceline management or tree plantations as specified on the label.
  • Has activity on difficult to control weeds including Barley Grass and Brome Grass, it provides versatility on a range of weed species.

What is the turfgrass selectivity of Array 500SC Herbicide?

  • Perennial ryegrass is considered to be the safest turfgrass to Array (ethofumesate) treatments. Previous research conducted has determined plant safety to ethofumesate in the descending order of tolerance as follows:
    • Perennial ryegrass > Tall fescue > Creeping bentgrass > Kentucky bluegrass > Wintergrass. (Adams, 1989)
  • Array is also safe for use on Kikuyu and Qld Blue Couch turf species.
  • Array is not safe on Couch and Hybrid Couch turf surfaces.

ProForce Array 500SC Herbicide is a member of the Benzofuran group of herbicides. Array 500SC Herbicide has the inhibitors of fat synthesis (not AACase inhibitors) mode of action. Ethofumesate, the active ingredient in ProForce Array 500 SC. The herbicide is absorbed by young shoots and roots of susceptible weed species. The post-emergence activity of ethofumesate is limited to very young weeds at lower use rates, as ethofumesate is not absorbed by leaves after the plant has produced a mature cuticle. Ethofumesate is translocated within the plant following coleoptile or root absorption, but is not translocated out of treated leaves. Ethofumesate is believed to inhibit photosynthesis and respiration within the susceptible weed species.

Soil Residual Activity of Array 500SC Herbicide.

Array has been shown not to leach in soils that have an organic matter content greater than 1%. Soil microorganisms are responsible for the degradation of ethofumesate in soils. The soil persistence of ethofumesate is affected by climate, soil type and microbial activity. Under warm, moist conditions and cold, dry conditions the half-life of ethofumesate is 5 and 14 weeks, respectively.

Tips For Use

General Instructions:

  • The product is a pre- and post-emergence herbicide for the control of certain broad-leaved weeds and grasses.
  • For post-emergence applications, weeds should be at the seedling to 4-leaf stage.
  • Prior to sowing any follow-up crops other than beet or ryegrass, those areas previously treated should be thoroughly tilled (including ploughing).
  1. Beet Crops:
  • Slight foliage distortion to beet may occur following treatment.
  • These effects are short-lived and do not affect crop yield.
  • Pre-emergence treatment with this product may be followed by post-emergence application of Betanal* or a mixture of both.
  1. Use of Array 500SC in mixture with Betanal on beet crops:
  • Before using this mixture, carefully read the Betanal label; note the warning about use in temperatures above 30°C.
  • For best results, the interval between treatment and subsequent rainfall or irrigation should be at least six (6) hours. In Tasmania, this treatment should follow the use of a pre-emergence herbicide.
  • This mixture is recommended to provide a wider spectrum of post-emergence weed control and longer residual activity than Betanal used alone.
  • Weeds controlled include additional weeds listed on the Betanal label.
  1. Ryegrass:
  • This product will reduce clover stands by 40-60%.
  • For best control of barley grass, apply to closely grazed pasture (3-5 cm high).
  • Raw organic matter can reduce efficacy, and retreatment may be necessary.
  • Remove organic litter and harrow large dung pats before application.
  • In areas of dense Barley Grass, drill or oversow with ryegrass as soon as possible after treatment.
  1. Turf:
  • This selective herbicide should be applied before, or early after germination or emergence of Winter Grass (Poa annua) when it occurs in fine turf situations.
  • It is selective in ryegrass, fescues, Kentucky bluegrass, Queensland blue couch, kikuyu, bent grasses (including brown top bent) and couch when applied as directed.
  • Applications are made at monthly intervals for 3-4 months to control winter grass gradually while allowing the desirable turf grasses to take over without unsightly bare patches of dead Winter Grass.
  • Oversowing and reseeding should not take place within one month of spraying.

Mixing:

  • Array 500SC is a suspension concentrate that mixes easily with water.
  • Prior to pouring, gently invert or roll the container to ensure all active constituents is in suspension.
  • Part-fill the spray tank with clean water.
  • Add the correct amount of Array 500SC and top up with water to the required level.
  • Thorough agitation of the mixture is necessary before spraying.
  • Mix only enough chemicals for immediate use.
  • When using a mixture of Array 500SC and Betanal, half-fill the spray vat with water, then stir or agitate while adding the required quantities.
  • Top up with water and stir again.
  • Use as soon as possible after mixing.
  • Do not add other herbicides or surfactants unless specifically recommended.

Application:

Boom Spray:

  • Apply in a suitable volume of water to give good, even coverage.
  • When used pre-emergence, apply to a moist soil surface.
  • Ensure that the nozzles are set at the correct height to give even coverage ie., 50-60 cm above the pasture or crop. Use a nozzle and pressure combination to give a fine spray (200-300 kPa).
  • Make sure nozzle tips are clean, undamaged and all the correct type and size.
  • Impact nozzles or broadcast nozzle clusters should not be used.
  • Do not use filter gauze finer than 0.3 mm.
  • After use, wash all equipment thoroughly with water containing liquid detergent.
  • Spray out thoroughly, then rinse twice with clean water.
  • To allow air access, remove nozzles and open the spray tank lid.

Restraints:

  • Do not apply if rain is imminent or falling.
  • Do not rotate with crops other than beet crops for 6 months after application.

Spray Drift Restraints

  • Specific definitions for terms used in this section of the label can be found at www.apvma.gov.au/spraydrift
  • Do not apply in a manner that may cause an unacceptable impact to native vegetation, agricultural crops, landscaped gardens and aquaculture production or cause contamination of plant or livestock commodities, outside the application site from spray drift.
  • Wherever possible, correctly use application equipment designed to reduce spray drift and apply when the wind direction is away from these sensitive areas.
  • Do not apply if there are surface temperature inversion conditions present at the application site during the time of application.
  • These conditions exist most evenings, one to two hours before sunset and persist until one to two hours after sunrise. Do not allow bystanders to come into contact with the spray cloud.
  • Do not apply unless the wind speed is between 3 and 15 kilometres per hour at the application site during the time of application.
  • Do not apply if there are surface temperature inversion conditions present at the application site during the time of application.
  • These conditions exist most evenings one to two hours before sunset and persist until one to two hours after sunrise

Protection Of Crops, Native And Other Non-Target Plants:

  • Do not apply under weather conditions or from spraying equipment that may cause spray to drift onto nearby susceptible plants/crops, cropping lands or pastures.
